Outdoor Thanksgiving Decorations

Thanksgiving is a festival of prayers, food and fun. Thanksgiving is celebrated by offering Thanksgiving prayers, followed by an appetizing Thanksgiving feast and a host of other fun-filled thanksgiving activities, like making crafts and decorating homes. This special festival gives everyone an opportunity to unleash their creativities and imaginations to aesthetically decorate their homes. Thanksgiving home decorations involve decorating the indoors as well as outdoors. Outdoor Thanksgiving decorations impart a colorful festive mood into the house, giving a warm Thanksgiving welcome to all guests. These generally include decorating the lawn/yard, the main entrance, the pathway, the door, and so on. Let us have a look at some fascinating ideas that will help you decorate your outdoors on Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Wreath

You Need:
  • Grapevine Wreath
  • Glue
  • Glue Gun
  • Ribbon
  • Wood
  • Pine Cones (small to medium in size)
  • Plastic/Cloth Pumpkins (various sizes)
  • Stuffed Animal like bear etc. that has fall colors
  • Little bunches of assorted Cloth Sunflowers
  • Indian Corn (preferably plastic corn)
Directions:
  • Begin with the grapevine wreath. Put the bear on the wreath.
  • Glue a 3x2 inch piece of wood onto the wreath to secure the bear on the wreath.
  • Make a small slit in the material of the bear and slip it inside the material. Now the bear will not fall off of the wreath.
  • Glue all pumpkins onto the wreath. Keep about three inches of spacing between them.
  • Glue the Indian corn onto the wreath.
  • Next, glue the pine cones onto the wreath.
  • Place the small bunches of sunflowers all around the wreath in the empty spaces.
  • Make a big beautiful bow with the ribbon. Leave the ends hanging down and make a ‘V’ shape cut into the ends.
  • Put a spot of glue, the size of a dime, in the very middle of the back of the bow and place it at the top of your wreath.
  • Place it on the front door to greet all your Thanksgiving guests.
Homemade Scare Crow

You Need:
  • An Old Shirt
  • A pair of Jeans
  • A White Pillow Cover
  • An Old Hat
Directions:
  • Button-up the shirt.
  • Stitch the shirt with jeans at the waist.
  • Stuff the clothing with some hay.
  • Stuff a head using pillow cover and some hay.
  • Add a hat and draw a face with marker.
  • Place your scarecrow on the front steps or have him sit on one of those bales of hay.
Mums
Mums are affordable plants that grow well in cool fall winter. They look very good as Thanksgiving yard decorations.

Old Straw Hat
An old straw hat can be hanged on your front door using push pins. The hat can be decorated using fake fall colored flowers. You can also tie a ribbon around the hat. All these things are easily available in the market at very reasonable prices.

Old Leather Boots
Old leather boots can creatively be worked with. You can plant your mums and other fall plants in these boots. To add to the fun, keep them near the scarecrow, that is, without any shoes on.

Gourds
Gourds can be planted in your garden and prove to be really cheap. Alternatively, you can buy them from a local farmer's market. Gourds can be lined up the steps in place of the potted plants. They do not need much watering and last long.
